Los padres de Sarah arrived mid-March for a week-long visit.
Coolish temperatures and grey skies were the perfect backdrop for exploring the city on foot for the first few days of their visit. Robert, armed with his best Spanish skills and hand gestures, shopped his way around Palermo's bakeries, flower shops and clothing boutiques. Mom-slash-Jo-Ann used her best French to converse with the Argentines with good success, snatching up several Argentinian leather handbags.

From Palermo to Puerto Madero and back, shops, restaurants, bars and parks were all checked off the list.
On Sunday we ventured across the river to the Uruguayan town of Colonia. A 50 minute ride on the super fast Buquebus zipped us across the expansive, muddy-brown Rio de la Plata to this historic village for the day.

With sun shining we walked the cobblestone streets and enjoyed a leisurely lunch. Robert eventually found a beach and took in a little sun. He also was a winner at the small casino in town. Trevor lugged his laptop with him across the border with the hopes of catching a glimpse of the Oregon Ducks in round two of the NCAA Tournament. An accommodating hotel lobby was found and although he wasn't able to see the action, he listened in as the Ducks successfully advanced.
Bringing sunshine with us back from Colonia, the remainder of the trip flew by and before we knew it we were enjoying a farewell lunch complete with yummy strawberry daiquiris before seeing my parents off to the airport.

Trevor and I enjoyed the visit and hope los padres will return in the spring for another visit!
