All the way from Spokane, Washington...

Earning the first stamp in her new passport, we were super excited to have our good friend and a favorite former third wheel, Breelyn join us in BsAs last week.

The plan for the week was simple, explore the city, indulge in great food and wine and enjoy some spirited conversations about working women, the state of the world and pharmaceutical companies.

After a decadent initiation lunch of Argentinian steak in scenic Puerto Madero we took in a few requisite landmarks-- Avenida Neuve de Julio, the Obelisco, Florida Street, Plaza de Mayo and La Casa Rosada.

While Trevor spent his mornings studying at the University of BsAs, Bree and I upped the ante creating a list of things to do and see. We spent one afternoon wandering through the eerie yet beautiful Cementerio de la Recoleta even managing to decipher the map to find Evita's tomb.

Taking in a little local art and culture, we also visited the Museo Xul Solar. A fascinating Argentine, Solar was not only a painter but a philosopher, inventor, musician and all-around creative guy, he also created his own language. Taking advantage of the sunny Argentine winter days, Bree and I ventured down to the Japanese Garden. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the garden located in the midst of busy Palermo and were fascinated yet disturbed by the large schools of gigantic koi.

With Bree's trip at an end we made sure that she had a bagful of classic Argentine souvenirs, a Boca Juniors futbol jersey, plenty of dark chocolate for submarinos, handmade paper from Papelera Palermo and of course, some Malbec.
